BellSouth® Gigabit Ethernet Service

You depend on your local-area network (LAN) to provide connectivity for an increasing number of complex, mission-critical applications. As the volume of network traffic increases, the bandwidth offered by a typical 10 or 100 Mbps Ethernet LAN may quickly become inadequate to maintain acceptable performance. As a result, you look to higher-speed network technologies to solve the bandwidth crunch, provide a smooth upgrade path, be cost effective and require no retraining. BellSouth Gigabit Ethernet services is the RIGHT CHOICE for high speed, high bandwidth LAN networking.

BellSouth's Gigabit Ethernet service meets several key criteria for choosing a high-speed network:

BellSouth Gigabit Ethernet Service, an evolution of BellSouth® Native Mode LAN Interconnection (NMLI) Service, is designed to offer the increased bandwidth needed to support convergence of IP, Data, Video and Multicast applications across corporate LAN/WAN environments. BellSouth's Gigabit Ethernet Service offers two configurations: Dedicated (Point-to-Point) and Switched Gigabit Ethernet Service. Customers with two locations can choose a direct, point-to-point connection while companies with more intricate network designs may opt for a Switched GigE service. The service will allow 24X7 service management and monitoring similar to current NMLI service. BellSouth Gigabit Ethernet NMLI Service supports full interworking between existing NMLI 10Mbps, 100Mbps and 1000Mbps services, allowing customers to mix speeds by location and application. This interworking provides customers a clear, seamless migration path to higher bandwidths without changing the LAN protocols that they are familiar with.
