AT&T provides FastAccess® DSL pursuant to the AT&T Internet Service Agreement. A copy of the Service Agreement may be viewed on your Registration CD or you may read the Service Agreement here. Please be advised AT&T will use automated telephone recordings and e-mails to communicate important FastAccess DSL service-related information.
Service Description
FastAccess DSL service is a best efforts service. The actual speed experienced by customers is based on DSL sync rate and may vary and depends on several factors including customer location, destination on the Internet, traffic on the Internet, interference with high frequency spectrum on the customer's telephone line, etc. Wireless connections are subject to varying speeds based on factors such as: proximity to the wireless gateway, or interference from other devices. No minimum level of speed is guaranteed.

A DSL modem or residential gateway is required for FastAccess DSL Internet service.

If you are receiving a bundle discount, any changes you make to your FastAccess DSL service may affect your discount.

Billing for your FastAccess DSL and any added features will begin when your order is complete, which is typically within five days from the date you placed your order.

2. FastAccess DSL Features
Additional features are sold separately.

  • Internet Security Suite:  AT&T Internet Security Suite - powered by McAfee© provides anti-virus protection, anti-spyware, and firewall for up to 10 PCs. Available at no extra charge for high-speed Internet plans with a 3.0 Mbps downstream speed or higher.  For high-speed Internet plans with 1.5 Mbps downstream speed or lower, the Internet Security Suite is an optional service for $5 per month.  Taxes and additional fees extra.  Download of McAfee software can be completed at http://att.software.yahoo.com.
  • AT&T® Home Networking is $5.00 per month. An AT&T Wireless GatewaySM is required for service. AT&T® Home Networking is available with FastAccess DSL Xtreme and Xtreme 6.0 at no additional charge. Offer is available to existing FastAccess DSL Xtreme and Xtreme 6.0 customers upon request.
  • Static IP is $14.95 per month. Static IP is optional (not recommended for standard installation).

3. Products Previously Sold (No longer available to new customers)
The router-enabled version of AT&T Firewall/Parental Controls is $6.95 per month and requires an AT&T-supported gateway.

Web Remote Access is $4.95 per month and requires an AT&T-supported gateway.

4. General
Your regular monthly telephone service charges, if applicable are not included in these amounts.

5. Back-up Dial Account Usage
FastAccess DSL service includes access to a back-up Dial Internet account. This account is intended to be used while you are traveling or in the event that FastAccess service is temporarily interrupted. FastAccess Residential customers receive up to 20 hours of usage per month at no additional cost. (Customers are responsible for any long distance or roaming charges that may be incurred for all back-up dial usage.) If you use your back-up dial-up account for more than 20 hours in any month, you agree to pay AT&T two dollars for the first hour or fraction thereof in excess of 20 hours and one dollar per hour for each additional hour or fraction thereof in excess of 21 hours. Billing for usage over 20 hours will not exceed $22.95 per month.

6. Moving your FastAccess DSL service from one residence to another
If you move your FastAccess DSL service from one residence to another, you are provided with a free Dial Internet account. This account is intended for use while you are transitioning to your new location, and will remain active until your move order has completed at the new location or up to 6 months from the time the move order was placed. If your FastAccess DSL service has not been moved to the new location within 6 months of the original move order, AT&T shall have the right to terminate this account. You may also convert this temporary dial account to the standard Dial Internet account at the then current market rate. FastAccess DSL Direct customers can access their dial account from virtually any location.

7. Equipment Returns
If you decide within 30 days of the Ship Date or Professional Installation Date that you want to return the equipment for any reason, you may return it and you will not be charged for the modem, but (1) you must notify AT&T within 30 days of the Ship Date or Professional Installation Date and (2) you must return the equipment in accordance with AT&Tīs equipment return procedures set forth below and AT&T must receive the equipment in good working order with all original parts, accessories, disks, instruction manuals and related documentation intact within 30 days after your notification to AT&T. After 30 days from the Ship or Installation Date, AT&T will not accept the return of any equipment other than for warranty reasons.

Modem and Wireless Gateway Equipment Return for Replacement: If the modem/gateway becomes inoperable because of defective materials or workmanship within one year of the modem ship date for self-install customers or one year of the Professional Installation date, you may return the modem/gateway for replacement by AT&T. AT&T may replace your modem or wireless gateway with a refurbished product. Lost or stolen modems/gateways, or those that have been damaged or destroyed by any other cause, may be replaced at the market rate of that equipment. The defective product must be returned in accordance with the return procedures set forth below in order to receive a replacement. If the identical item is not available, we may choose to replace your modem/gateway with one that is similar.

If the modem/gateway becomes defective for any reason more than one year after the Professional Installation Date or one year of the ship date for self-install customers, either contact the manufacturer for assistance or contact AT&T to purchase a replacement. No credits, refunds, or exchanges will be given for equipment that is not returned in accordance with the time periods and processes set forth herein. Call 1-888-321-2375 if you have any questions about the warranty of a modem.

How to return a modem/gateway purchased by AT&T: Call AT&T and we will send you a label with a Return Authorization Number for you to use on the package you are returning. AT&T will not accept any package without the Return Authorization Number clearly written on the front of the package. To get your Return Authorization Number and Label, please call 1-888-321-2375.

Securely pack the item in its original shipping box or envelope, if possible. Make sure you write the Return Authorization Number clearly on the front of your package. It is important to return your package via an insured shipping method, such as US Mail, United Parcel Service, Federal Express, etc. You are responsible for the package until it is received at the fulfillment center. The receipt for the insurance is your protection in the event that the package is lost or damaged. You are responsible for paying shipping charges to return the modem or gateway; C.O.D. deliveries will not be accepted.

Return processing usually takes two weeks. AT&T will make the decision as to the condition of the equipment upon its return and the availability of any replacement, if applicable.

8. AT&T Wi-Fi Basic Included with FastAccess DSL Lite, Ultra, Xtreme and Xtreme 6.0
AT&T Wi-Fi public wireless high-speed Internet access service is provided by AT&T Internet Services and is provided at no charge for customers who subscribe to FastAccess DSL Lite, Ultra, Xtreme or Xtreme 6.0.  Connections available at AT&T branded hot spots and partnering locations.  An 802.11 b/g enabled device is required for Wi-Fi access. Service not available in all areas. Limited to AT&T Internet Services master account. AT&T Internet Services reserves the right to suspend any connection and is not liable for any lack of security that may result from your use of the service on your device. Other restrictions apply. Requires registered FastAccess DSL membership. Roaming locations not included, except at participating locations. Acceptance of AT&T Wi-Fi Terms and Conditions is required. If your Fastaccess account is cancelled, your AT&T Wi-Fi subscription will also be cancelled.
